Not only would Automattic's founder have a meltdown on X, but he would also go on to fuck over WP Engine by revoking its access to the free and open-source WordPress. In other words, Matt was willing to fuck over thousands of WP Engine's customers because it's "cancer" and even threatened them in private saying that he would disparage them if it failed to pay millions of dollars.

It's not every day that we get to see companies have major public disputes, and even go as far as threatening eachother, but that's exactly what's happening right now between WordPress's parent company, Automattic and WP Engine, a managed WordPress hosting company.
